Millinocket's Public Works Department has four primary areas of responsibility; Public Works, Solid Waste, Cemetery, and the Millinocket Regional Airport.

The Public Works Department is located at 20 Cedar Street. Our hours of operation are from 7am to 3pm Monday through Friday. Currently there are 8 employees in the department. The Department has a Director, Leadman, Heavy Equipment Operators and Mechanic.

The Solid Waste Transfer Station is located on Medway Road past the airport. The use of the Transfer Station is by permit only for Millinocket and Penobscot County Residents which you can obtain a permit at the Transfer Station gate. The facility has a solid waste building, recycle building, universal waste material storage building, and areas for wood, metal, white goods, tires, and shingles. Our hours of operation are from 8am to 4pm on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. We are closed on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Located next to the Transfer Station is the compost area where leaves and brush can be disposed of. The compost area has now been open as of April 23rd and will remain open 24 hours for the people of Millinocket for spring cleanup.

The Cemetery will be doing their fall cleanup starting November 1st. Please take any items off the grave sites that you may want to save before November 1st. All other items will be taken off by the Public Works Crew except for Holiday items which are ok, and will not be removed by the crew. For assistance please call Public Works.
