The long tradition of the Millinocket Fire Department serving the needs of the community continues today with the dedicated service of our 8 full-time Firefighter/EMT's and 25 call firefighters. These individual respond to calls as far west as the Jo-Mary Lakes area, Baxter State Park, and north along the Golden Road towards Canada. The department is made up of a Fire Chief, Assistant Chief and 6 full-time firefighter/EMT's that work a rotating 24 hour shift.

The Millinocket Fire Department is well equipped with modern vehicles and equipment. Our station house on Aroostook Avenue houses our Engine 5 pumper, Ladder 1, and our local and transfer ambulances. Our Spruce Street building houses Engine 1, a 1-ton 4x4 pumper for remote locations, a backup ambulance, rescue boat and a rescue snowmobile and toboggan.

Members of the Millinocket Fire Department are highly trained individuals who share their knowledge with the community. The department has an active Fire and Life Safety Program that educates children and adults on fire and accident prevention. Programs such as, Learn Not to Burn, Risk Watch, Juvenile Fire Setter Program and our Bike Helmet Program are all designed to make Millinocket a safe place for children and adults to live.
