In order to provide quality service that will ensure the safety of the public as well as the responding police, dispatchers need to receive certain information. CONCEALED WEAPONS PERMITS
Applications for concealed weapons are available here or through the police department. The State of Maine no longer requires a concealed weapons permit to carry. There are some circumstances/location where a permit is required, Acadia National Park, State Parks, Employees’ vehicle on work premises (vehicle must be locked, firearm not visible.

Any individual carrying a concealed handgun without a permit, has a duty, when coming in contact with any law enforcement officer during a stop, detention, or arrest, to immediately inform the officer they are carrying a concealed handgun.

This agency strongly recommends that all persons carrying firearms be familiar with firearms safety and concealed carry state laws.

GUIDE FOR CONSUMER FIREWORKS USE
The Town of Millinocket has a fireworks prohibition ordinance which states that no person shall use, sell, or offer for sale consumer fireworks, and all other fireworks prohibited by state law in the Town of Millinocket.

Any person who uses consumer fireworks in the town of Millinocket shall be punished by a fine of not less than that of five hundred dollars ($500.00).

Attached is the Town of Millinocket Fireworks Ordinance. Also attached are the rules for using fireworks in the State of Maine for locations that do not have ordinances in place.

ANIMAL CONTROL
To report incidents involving animals (dog bites, bats, stray animals (dog & cats), call 911 for emergencies or 723-9731 for non-emergencies.

The department handles a variety of wild and domestic animal complaints. The town contracts with Penobscot Valley Humane Society in Lincoln Maine to hold stray animals. All dogs must be licensed annually in January. Dog Licenses are available at the Millinocket Town Clerks Office. Arrangements are made with appropriate outside agencies to handle various wild animal complaints.

PARKING BANS
On-street parking is prohibited on all town streets from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. from November 1st to April 1st.
